Ok, so I grew up in Hawaii (though not Hawaiian) and now live in Washington State. I was trying to think of a unique, short, catchy business name-while trying to think of words that rhyme with doula (not many), "The Hula Doula" popped into my head. Corny, right? But also not-hula and belly dancing have roots in fertility and childbirth, and the motions can be very useful in labor, so then it seems to fit. But then I see all these beautiful, spiritual, birth sounding names and I'm not so sure. Regardless, now I can't get that name out of my head and have been unable to generate other ideas. Thoughts? (Picture a logo of a pg woman in a ti leaf skirt....:rofl)
Originally in my journey to become a doula, I wanted to be only a childbirth doula. However, I have come to respect the ENTIRE process of becoming a mother and felt that postpartum care was essential to what I offer my clients. I have not completed a workshop for becoming a postpartum doula yet (its a cost thing... I'm really poor! but I'm working on saving up right now)... But I have had a plethera of calls about postpartum doula care! My midwife is recommending people to me, my LC at the hospital I had my first at is giving my doula business cards to people.... So, I'm super excited! :dancing

I was at a childbirth ed class the other night as it is required to get my certification in that. Anyway, at one point, a video was shown of proper latching on during bf, how to care for sore nipples...etc. I noticed some of the parents, especially the fathers, becoming quite giggly. I could sense that they were actually quite uncomfortable. When I came home I asked my dh if that would bother him, to watch various clips of breasts. He said that yes, it would make him feel pretty uncomfortable. First of all, do father’s need to know this stuff? To me, the most important thing a father can learn, as far as bf’ing goes, is to support the mother. Tell her what a wonderful thing she is doing and that he backs her all the way. Pamper her, help her around the house, bring her water, help with other baby care…etc. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Anyway, my dh is in the business of making promotional/educational videos. I was thinking it might be neat if there was a video for fathers to watch about breastfeeding that didn’t get into the mechanics of it so much but rather showed the fathers how important they are in the process just by their help and encouragement. Would this be a good idea? Any suggestions? Even a video for fathers that was maybe humorous, but touches on some of their fears during the whole birth process.

Any ideas on what could be included in such videos? Thanks!
